Day One

Pick of the Day: Christian Dior

Today we saw John Galliano for Christian Dior kicking off Haute Couture Spring 2010 in none other than the fashion capital of Paris of course.
And he certainly did not disappoint as his collection took on a roller-coaster of different trends & inspirations for all to revel in.
From equestrian to the gibson girl look, with a sense of period drama to many of the clothes. But apart from all the amazing pieces, it was the jewellery & hair that really caught my eye.
In parts the hair styles just had to have been inspired by Cruella de Ville (& I know your thinking how on earth did they manage to get the black netted snoods looking the size of soccer balls, well here's an insider secret for you: It was a Balloon) & the jewellery draped from the models frames like magnificent gigantic like chandeliers.
Towards the end (my favourite part of the show) when the collection moved into an array of extravagant cocktail dresses, Galliano showed us a more romantically inspired side with his fantastical cocktail dresses draped in a blanket of all the current trends including lace, tulle & nude colours. Other colours we saw running through the show as well were violets, fuchsia, petrol blues, sapphires, olives & mocha mixed with raspberry.
Anyway I will let you form your own opinion as you can view the entire collection here at Style.com.
But for now here are a few my top picks from Paris Haute Couture Spring 2010's first runway show.
